Configuring a Microsoft® Windows
Cluster of Physical Servers
To configure a Microsoft®
Windows Cluster of Physical Servers, perform these steps:
- Click the Marketplace
tile on the VPC Dashboard screen.
- If
your Virtual Private Cloud has multiple data centers, select a data
center from the pull-down selection at the right side of the screen.
Otherwise, continue with the next step.
Note: The pull-down selection only
displays when your Virtual Private Cloud has multiple data centers.
- Select
Microsoft® Windows Cluster of Physical
Servers from the Marketplace to display the catalog item description
and begin the configuration process.
Click
Configure to display the Service Details interface.
Note: To return easily
to this catalog item description page, click COPY
ITEM URL.
Configure the network for the Microsoft® Windows Cluster of Physical
Servers using the options on the Network
Configuration page.
Note: The Your Configuration
page on the right side of the screen displays the configuration parameters
and service settings you select.
- Cluster
Location
is prepopulated with the name of your data center or, if you have
multiple data centers, the data center selected in Step 2.
- Enter
a Cluster Name in compliance with the instructions.
- Select an available VLAN.
- Continue
configuration of the Microsoft®
Windows Cluster of Physical Servers using the options
on the Cluster Configuration
page.
Note: The fields
displayed on the Cluster Configuration
page depend on the type of data center displayed in the Cluster Location field.
- To configure the Cluster
of Physical Servers for a Dual Data Center, go
here.
- To
configure the Cluster
of Physical Servers for a Single
Data Center,
continue with the next step.
- Configure the Cluster
of Physical Servers for a Single Data Center
using the options on the Cluster
Configuration page.
- The
selection DXC provides the OS License key
is activated by default.
If you do not want DXC to provide the OS License
key, deactivate this selection.
- Select
2 to 16 servers from the
Member Nodes Hardware Location
pull-down menu.
Note:
The data center
in the example above ('Markham') is a Single Data Center. When
you configure a Microsoft®
Windows Cluster of Physical Servers
using a Single Data
Center, the data center you see will be different.
- Select
a Microsoft®
Windows Server®
Version.
- Service
Level is prepopulated.
- To
continue configuration of the Microsoft® Windows Cluster of Physical
Servers, go
here.
- Configure
the Cluster
of Physical Servers for a Dual Data Center
using the options on the Cluster
Configuration page.
- The
selection DXC provides the OS License key
is activated by default.
If you do not want DXC to provide the OS License
key, deactivate this selection.
- The
selection Evenly span both Locations
is deactivated by default.
Note: The data centers
in the example above ('Alpharetta' and 'Suwanee') are the two data
centers of a Dual Data Center pair. When you configure a Microsoft®
Windows Cluster of Physical Servers using a Dual Data Center, the
data centers you see on the Cluster
Configuration
page will be different.
Choose one of the following options:
1) To select member nodes hardware for only the Dual Data
Center displayed in the Cluster
Location field, keep the
Evenly span both Locations selection
deactivated.
2) To evenly span member nodes hardware at both Dual Data Center
locations, activate the Evenly
span both Locations selection.
For
each Member Nodes Hardware Location
pull-down menu displayed, select a number of servers in compliance
with the instructions.
Note: If
you activated the Evenly span
both Locations selection,
you will see two Member Nodes
Hardware Location pull-down menus.
Otherwise, you will see only one.
- Select
a Microsoft®
Windows Server®
Version.
- Service
Level is prepopulated.
- Continue
configuration of the Microsoft®
Windows Cluster of Physical Servers using the options on the
Shared Storage Configuration
page.
- Make
a selection from the Block
Storage Offering
pull-down menu.
Note: Not all data
centers have the same storage options. Contact your DXC Account Representative
if a required storage type is not available at the desired data center
location.
- Select
a Volume Size.
- Enter
a Volume Name
in accordance with the instructions.
- Optional.
To add an additional shared volume for this cluster, clickin the lower right corner to display
another Shared Storage Configuration
page.
Note: Add
any number of shared volumes by clickingin the
lower right corner of each Shared
Storage Configuration page.
- Configuration
of the Microsoft® Windows
Cluster of Physical Servers is complete. Continue with the next step.
Select
either Order
Now to
order the catalog item immediately or
Add
to Order to put the catalog
item in the shopping cart.
Note:
If your order will consist of multiple catalog
items or if you do not want to submit your order immediately, use the
Add to Order option to
add the catalog item to the shopping cart.
